Generational Differences in Teachers’ Professional Competencies

<p style="text-align: justify;">The study focused on generational differences in teachers’ professional competencies (interaction styles, teaching styles and didactic competencies) motivation for the profession. A total of 462 teachers (20 students with at least a bachelor’s degree; age: M = 43.36, SD 11.05) participated study. The Questionnaire Teacher Interaction (Slovak version), Slovak Teaching Style Questionnaire, Didactic Competencies Scale Motivations Choosing as Career were administered. Teachers divided into generations (Baby Boomers, born up through 1964; Generation X, 1965 – 1980; Y, 1981 1996; Z, 1997 later). main finding was that there significant but no On other hand, strong preferences leadership, helpful, student-teacher responsibility, understanding interaction supporting style.
